From 17th to 19th of September, AAEX (Art as Exchange) will celebrate their 5th anniversary in a 3-day art event at St. Helena Park. The much-loved AAEX Flamingo will make an appearance again alongside the AAEX Block Puzzle, featured at the recent SEEK festival. There will be an interactive installation at the park, supported by Creative Ireland, highlighting language and cultural diversity within the group and among the visitors, and a variety of art installations, workshops and demonstrations for all ages, with a general ethos of making art from found objects or re-used materials. And the Creative Spark Print Studio will be there with their new mobile pop-up print studio, the Pedal Press.
All activities are free, but numbers are restricted, and booking is required for workshops and events. Check the full events programme at aaex.eventbrite.ie or view the event map for a full description of installation and free walk-up activities, which don’t require booking.
Culture Night / Awash With Colour
The 3-day festival will be kicked off by a Culture Night event called ‘Awash With Colour’, on Friday 17th September, 6 pm, at which AAEX and the Monaghan Poets and Song Writers Group (MOPOSOGS) present artworks and recitals of poems, prose and songs from a collaboration in which visual artists responded to texts by writers and vice versa.
Art Installations and Walk-up Activities
AAEX members will start installing artworks in the park on Friday, 17th September, which will become available through the day and will remain in place over the weekend.
Check out the event map for a full description of installations and walk-up activities.
Workshops and Demonstrations
AAEX artists will provide a variety of workshops and demonstrations for all ages, like jewellery making, print making, collages, mono printing and many more.
